Tao of Love And Sex: Simple Recipes For Male Sexuality

Here are a few Taoist recipes for supplementing and improving the sexual energies. They are based on the energy principles of food and on the interplay of the five flavors.

Rice with cistanche
Indications: Impotence, infertility, constipation, sensitivity to cold.
Counter-indications: Signs of heat, fever. Ingredients: 100 grams white rice; 30 grams saline (herba cistanchis); 10 grams lean mutton, cut into small pieces; 10 milliliters rice wine; 10 grams fresh ginger root; 10 grams chives; 5 grams salt.
Actions: Cistanche tones the kidneys and helps add water bulk to the large intestine.
Preparation: Cut the ginger in slices. Wrap in a piece of cheesecloth along with the cistanche and tie the ends. Let soak in 700 milliliters of water for 1 hour. Boil for 20 minutes, then remove the packet. Add the rice, the mutton, and the rice wine to the liquid that remains. Boil over a low flame for 20 minutes. Add the chives and the salt. Cook for 3 more minutes. Eat this dish twice a week for a month.

Cornmeal and chicken soup for increasing sexual energy
Ingredients: Two chicken wings, chopped fine; one beaten egg; 5 tablespoons cornmeal; 3 cups water; 1/4 cup margarine or sesame oil; 1 teaspoon sea salt; 1 tablespoon cow or goat milk.
Preparation: Combine the water, margarine, salt, and cornmeal. Bring to a boil. Add the chopped chicken wings and return to a boil while stirring well.
Actions: This excellent qi tonic also tones the sexual functions and fortifies the heart.

Kidney bouillon for toning the kidneys
Ingredients: Pork kidneys, salt, and the herbs Du Zhong (radix Eucommiae) and He Shou Wu (radix Polygoni multiflori). Preparation: Cover two pork kidneys with salt for 24 hours. The next day, rinse the kidneys and blanch in boiling water. In a separate pot, boil the herbs (10 grams of each) in 2 cups of water for an hour, covered and over a low flame. Strain, discard the herbs, and return the remaining liquid (there should be about 1 cup) to the pot. Rinse the kidneys once again and add to the liquid from the herbs; cook for another half hour. Drink the broth. You can also eat the kidneys themselves, if you like, but the tonic properties will be mostly in the broth.
Actions: According to Taoists, this preparation enters the liver and kidney channels and fortifies the sinews, bones, kidneys, and sexual functions in general. It is a tonic and can be used occasionally to vitalize the body and promote longevity. The herb Du Zhong is named after a Taoist hermit who is reputed to have attained enlightenment after eating some of it. This preparation is believed beneficial to both the body and the spirit.
